ICU/Critical Care RN in Kearney, Nebraska, 68845! Job Title: ICU
Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty:
Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours
per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years' ICU experience,
including Cardiac experience License: Active and in good standing
license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS Must-Have:
Experience with IABP, Impella, and CRRT Description: The unit
features 10 beds with an average daily census of over 5.
Patient-to-nurse ratios can be 1:1 or 1:2, depending on acuity
levels. Common diagnoses include open heart procedures, congestive
heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, overdose,
sepsis, and cerebrovascular accidents treated with TPA. Patients
may include adults and those under the age of 8, while patients
over 8 will generally be placed in a different care setting unless
they require intensive care. Navy blue, black, or charcoal grey
scrubs are the required colors. Teamwork is highly valued on this
unit. Flexibility is necessary for floating to other units, such as
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and Medical-Surgical. Weekend shifts
typically include two weekends a month, which may vary based on
unit needs. Travelers are often the first to float when necessary.
Attendance and timely arrival are crucial, with a requirement to
clock out for lunch. Three call-outs may lead to termination.
Shifts operate from 0600 to 1830 or 1800 to 0630, with the
possibility of additional shifts based on unit demand. Holidays
include one major and one minor. Cancellations can occur with a
two-week notice, allowing for call-offs up to 48 hours before a
scheduled shift. The charting system utilized is EPIC. A BSN is not
