Responsibilities of Purchasing Agent:

• Perform a variety of procurement functions to obtain the highest quality goods and services, including machinery, equipment, tooling, repairs and parts, in order to achieve the optimum value for the organization
• Develop profitable purchasing strategies
• Evaluate, coordinate and monitor shipments to ensure efficient operation while maintaining quality and cost
• Manage relationships with key suppliers to maintain quality of goods, timely delivery and compliance to terms of contracts
• Purchasing functions, such as, quoting, negotiating, placing orders, handling quality issues, follow up for on time delivery, expediting, maintaining purchasing budget
• Research and identify specialized resources inside or outside of the organization that will effectively meet the needs of the situation
• Communicate clear expectations to the resource; monitor deliverable, evaluate and record results, contact information and other data for future use Qualifications for Purchasing Agent:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain or related field preferred OR Equivalent combination of education and 2-3 years related experience
  • Must be able to display appropriate proficiency with computers and computer applications, such as, Excel and other purchasing databases
  • Ability to diagnose and correct minor issues with hardware and software as needed in order to maintain records or create material
    • Preferred: Proven experience as a Purchasing Agent or relevant role (5-10 years experience)
    • Experience in Blueprint reading
    • Demonstrable experience in negotiating prices and terms and conditions
    • A strong analytical mindset to evaluate market conditions and different supplies
