Immediate Supervisor: Materials Manager or Director of Materials
Management
Status: Hourly JOB OVERVIEW Assists with processes and tasks in the
medical supplies, office supplies and equipment functions within
the clinical services distribution system. Works in collaboration
with the patient care and case management, facilities management,
materials manager, buyers, and others to purchase, track, and
distribute to clinical units patient supplies and equipment items
needed for daily use. Special orders supplies when needed. Scans,
stocks and manages the inventory of medical, respiratory, and
therapy supplies. Maintains a central and unit par level storage
and stock rotation. Cleans all medical equipment. Delivers, picks
up and keeps track of inventory of Madonna laundry. Shuttles mail
and supplies back and forth between Madonna campuses. Recommends
process improvements in order to have the right supplies and
equipment to the right place timely and at the most efficient cost.
Contributes to the financial and quality outcomes as it relates to
the distribution system and to Madonna as a whole. Work will be
performed in an ethical and legal manner following organizational
policies, processes, protocols and procedures . Responsible for
quality service delivery and internal/external customer relations
for Madonna as a whole, including upholding the mission and values
for the department and facility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (INFORMATION)
A. Reviews and provides input toward the modification of the supply
and equipment function written processes.
B. Contributes to key indicator data for the supply and equipment
functions and/or the distribution system. Carries out plans and
follows up to ensure process improvements are implemented and are
effective.
C. Adheres to annual budget.
D. Maintains and updates the computerized inventory system.
E. Coordinates the tagging of medical supplies insuring price
benefits for inpatient and outpatient services.
F. Assists in the purchase of office supplies.
G. Maintains patient care supply areas with required par supply
levels.
H. Completes reports as instructed by supervisor.
I. Daily tracking of equipment on all areas as scheduled.
J. Receives rental equipment and takes to appropriate area.
K. Covers in Central Services as needed. (PEOPLE)
A. Communicates and collaborates effectively and appropriately with
members of the clinical staff to ensure supply and equipment needs
are being met.
B. Follows instruction from supervisor to perform other functions
as assigned in order to achieve the goals within the department
and/or system.
C. Delegates tasks when appropriate to meet supply needs
twenty-four hours a day.
D. Adheres to Madonna's operational definitions and core
values.
E. Attends and contributes to meetings.
F. Adheres to all state, federal, CARF, CDC regulations in
purchasing and practices.
G. Assists other staff to reduce risk and prevent injury in the
work place.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS Must be able to lift
maximum of 50 pounds and frequent lift and carry of 25 pounds. Must
tolerate occasional standing of 1-2 hours during 8-hour period with
45 minutes of sustained standing. Must tolerate occasional sitting
throughout the work shift. Must tolerate constant walking
throughout the work shift with up to 2 hours of sustained walking.
Must tolerate occasional periods of carrying throughout the shift.
Must tolerate frequent pulling throughout shift. Requires
sufficient strength to produce 50 pounds of force. Requires
sufficient hearing and speaking to communicate by phone or in
person. Requires sufficient sight to see and read reports and
computer screen. Must tolerate occasional to frequent low level,
horizontal and overhead reaching with right, left and both arms.
Requires normal hand strength based on national averages for age
and gender. Mobility required to travel/drive and deliver, unload,
stock, and reload items as scheduled. May be exposed to
biohazardous materials.
QUALIFICATIONS High school equivalency or knowledge level required.
One year experience in inventory control dealing with stocking
and/or distribution or healthcare experience required. Either
training or basic computer and calculator skills required.
Knowledge of medical supplies and medical equipment preferred. Must
have valid Nebraska driver's license and proof of good driving
record to meet insurance requirements.
