HelpDesk/Workstation Technician (Located in Lincoln, NE) GENERAL REQUISITION INFORMATION

Vaccination Requirement The University of Nebraska Medicine Center ( UNMC ) requires COVID -19 vaccinations for all students, staff, and faculty. All employees must be fully vaccinated unless they have requested and been approved for an exemption based on a recognized medical reason, a sincerely held religious belief, or a pre-approved, 100% remote work agreement. Fully vaccinated means having received one dose of a single dose COVID -19 vaccine (Johnson & Johnson) or both doses of a two-dose COVID -19 vaccination series (Moderna and Pfizer).

As a prospective and/or a new employee at UNMC , you will be/are required to comply with the UNMC's vaccination protocol. Non-faculty new hires, rehires and transfers will have five (5) days from the date of hire to provide proof of partial or full vaccination or to request a medical or religious exemption. Non-faculty new hires, rehires and transfers with proof of partial vaccination may have up to thirty-five (35) days from the hire date to be in full compliance with this policy. Non-faculty new hires, rehires and transfers who receive a denial of a request for medical or religious exemption will be given five (5) business days from exemption denial notification date to provide proof of compliance with this policy. Non-faculty new hires, rehires and transfers with no approved exemption who fail to comply with this policy will be separated.

The HelpDesk/Workstation Technician will troubleshoot a wide variety of software and hardware problems via telephone, email and direct customer contact. Respond to incoming issues, analyze and troubleshoot problems/requests, resolve the problem or triage the incident for escalation.Perform preventative maintenance, support and configuration of PCs, printers and other peripheral equipment. Serve as first responder to end user and classroom issues. Assist with scheduling and setup of video conferencing for classrooms and/or meetings.

Ability to communicate effectively using excellent interpersonal skills.
Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks and work under deadlines and emergency situations. Proven ability to progress with changing hardware and software technologies in today's dynamic environment.
Preferred Education: Associate's degree or equivalent If any degree/training is preferred, please specify the type: Computer science or IT related field
Preferred Experience: Setup and configuration of network printers. Experience with technology in AV multimedia hardware/software. Experience with Mac computers a plus.
Preferred License: No If yes, what is the preferred licensure/certification?: Preferred Computer Applications: Microsoft Access Preferred Other Computer Applications: Zoom, Adobe, PowerShell Preferred Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to produce quality documentation. Training experience or comfortable with public speaking. May be required to work 'off hours' depending on the situation.
