CHI Health Schuyler opened its doors on October 11 1953 serving the
communities of Schuyler Clarkson Howells Leigh and the residents of
rural Colfax County in Nebraska. In addition to its 25 critical
access beds CHI Health Schuyler offers a wide variety of services
to residents-children teens adults senior citizens friends and
neighbors. CHI Health Schuyler is proud to provide health care
services close to home. Contributes to the mission and vision of
CHI Health by performing clinical laboratory procedures to aid the
physician in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients
according to established standards and practices of laboratory
medicine. Identifies problems (technical, instrumental,
physiological), evaluates alternatives, and determines solutions.
May be assigned as a technical lead of specific laboratory
instrument or area. Assists with training new medical
technologists, students, residents, and other support personnel.
May assess and approve competency of other techs and staff.
**Sign-on Bonus** Transports, collects, receives, prepares and
accurately tests biological specimens using procedures consistent
with safe work practices and proper laboratory technique while
maintaining integrity of specimens. Critically evaluates specimens
and correlates all lab results to the clinical picture of each
individual. Communicates and documents all testing and results in a
timely manner to clinical personnel involved in patient care.
Maintains and operates test systems for optimal performance, being
able to identify and resolve technical problems, utilizing quality
control methods and troubleshooting techniques.
Follows CAP and all regulatory guidelines, demonstrating consistent
adherence to national patient safety goals. May assess and approve
competency of other techs and staff. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or successfully completed
three years of academic study with a minimum of 90 semester hours
at an accredited college or university, and completion of 12 months
of training in an accredited school of Medical Technology.

sciences from an accredited college or university, and completion
of 12 months of training in an accredited school of Medical

Certification by the ASCP Board of Registry/Board of Certification
(Bachelor's degree not required if registered before 1960), if
educated in the United States or ASCP eligible. **Employees hired
before May 1, 2003 are grandfathered into the previous requirements
and are exempt from the necessary registration.
Have had their academic degrees obtained outside the United State
and its territories validated by an approved member of the National
Association of Credential Evaluations Services, Inc. (NACES) as
equivalent to those granted by an accredited college or university
in the United States. Meet the requirements of highly complex

Successfully completed an official U.S. military medical laboratory
procedures training course of at least 50 week duration and have
held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical
Laboratory Specialists (Laboratory Technician).
Have previously qualified or could have qualified as a technologist
under 493.1491 on or before February 28, 1992.
Has passed a proficiency examination for Clinical Laboratory
Technologists approved by HHS.
