PHILOSOPHY & MISSION
The philosophy of Region V Services is to provide desired and
necessary supports for people with disabilities in the least
restrictive environment. Individualized training and supports are
the basis for the vision and mission of Region V Services.
Facilitating personal outcomes for persons with disabilities is a
basic principle of every position within Region V Services. It is
expected that staff make positive connections in the lives of
persons receiving services and assist them in increasing their
social roles within the community. Utilizes an Employment First
philosophy in providing training and work opportunities for persons
supported. The philosophy focuses on informed choice of options
available, career planning to the least restrictive alternative and
addressing barriers to progress. Utilizes an Authentic Living
philosophy when providing residential supports while providing a
variety of integrated living situations; opportunities for access
to community integrated services and activities; encourages the
development of socialization opportunities with other members of
the community. The philosophy focuses on informed choices of
options available, planning for the least restrictive alternative
and addressing barriers to progress.
This is a full-time exempt position based on a 40-hour work-week
between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday. This
position is full time and eligible for full employee benefits
including health, dental, paid leave, and retirement benefits. This
position is exempt and includes some evening and weekend hours. The
coordinator is responsible for scheduling direct care staff and may
occasionally, provide direct support when substitutes are not
The Vocational Community Supports Coordinator performs responsible
professional work in hiring, supervising and training staff who
provide for the health and well-being of individuals supported. The
coordinator is ultimately responsible for ensuring all staff
facilitate personal outcomes and make positive connections in the
lives of persons receiving services and assist them in increasing
their social roles within the community.

procedures as defined by Region V Services and regulatory

reports for all restrictive programs and procedures.
-- Performs on-call duties to assist staff with a variety of issues
including but not limited to medical and behavioral issues. Must be
able to respond to emergencies at all locations within the area
-- Confers with parents/guardians, Service Coordinators, Medical
Services Associates and others as necessary to coordinate
-- Organizes and monitors internal quality reviews and is a member
of the internal investigation team as necessary.
-- Coordinates activities with regulatory agencies and ensures
-- Conducts performance reviews and carries out disciplinary action
as necessary for staff directly supervised.
-- Works a flexible schedule, which may involve considerable
overtime including evening and weekend hours.

Services.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-- Considerable knowledge in evaluation and teaching techniques for
instruction of persons with disabilities.
-- Ability to train and supervise staff, exercise good judgment in
evaluating situations and making decisions and maintaining and
preparing moderately complex records.

-- Considerable knowledge of the use and interpretation of
assessments and data collection as it relates to people with

Qualifying Education, Training and Experience:
-- Bachelors Degree in a related field or is actively pursuing a
-- Two years experience in human services.
-- Possession of a driver's license valid in the state of Nebraska
or other adequate means of transportation.

-- Must possess a reliable means of communication (e.g. telephone,
cell phone, etc.).
