The philosophy of Region V Services is to provide desired and necessary supports for people with disabilities in the least restrictive environment. Individualized training and supports are the basis for the vision and mission of Region V Services.
Facilitating personal outcomes for persons with disabilities is a basic principle of every position within Region V Services. It is expected that staff make positive connections in the lives of persons receiving services and assist them in increasing their social roles within the community. Utilizes an Employment First philosophy in providing training and work opportunities for persons supported. The philosophy focuses on informed choice of options available, career planning to the least restrictive alternative and addressing barriers to progress. Utilizes an Authentic Living philosophy when providing residential supports while providing a variety of integrated living situations; opportunities for access to community integrated services and activities; encourages the development of socialization opportunities with other members of the community. SCHEDULE
This is a full-time exempt position based on a 40-hour work-week between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday. This position is full time and eligible for full employee benefits including health, dental, paid leave, and retirement benefits. This position is exempt and includes some evening and weekend hours. The coordinator is responsible for scheduling direct care staff and may occasionally, provide direct support when substitutes are not available.

JOB SUMMARY
The Vocational Community Supports Coordinator performs responsible professional work in hiring, supervising and training staff who provide for the health and well-being of individuals supported. The coordinator is ultimately responsible for ensuring all staff facilitate personal outcomes and make positive connections in the lives of persons receiving services and assist them in increasing their social roles within the community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
-- The ability to exercise good judgment in evaluation situations and in decision-making, which ensures individuals' safety and maintains confidentiality.
-- Utilizes effective oral and written communication skills.
-- Interviews job applicants and makes hiring decisions for direct care positions.
-- Provides and/or coordinates training in the skills and procedures necessary to maximize consistency and to provide habilitative services and ensure competency and image enhancement.
-- Participates actively in the goal setting process and may attend IPP meetings.
-- Coordinates and monitors skills training for individuals supported to promote greater integration and independence at work, home and in the community by providing opportunities for a meaningful day.
-- Ensures that individual goals, which are based on individual needs and personal outcomes, are developed, implemented and monitored as directed by IPP teams.
-- Supervises record-keeping activities to ensure completeness, accuracy of information and adherence to applicable policies and procedures as defined by Region V Services and regulatory agencies.
-- Proficient in the use of a personal computer and applications.
-- Ensures that written programs contain the necessary components by assisting staff with program development as necessary.
-- Provides the necessary supports for all staff that encourages team building skills.
-- Attend staff meetings, training conferences, and other developmental sessions as required to continue to improve job performance.
-- Serves as a member of the Behavioral Intervention Team and helps develop behavioral interventions and Program Ethics Committee reports for all restrictive programs and procedures.
-- Performs on-call duties to assist staff with a variety of issues including but not limited to medical and behavioral issues. Must be able to respond to emergencies at all locations within the area program.
-- Confers with parents/guardians, Service Coordinators, Medical Services Associates and others as necessary to coordinate individual services.
-- Organizes and monitors internal quality reviews and is a member of the internal investigation team as necessary.
-- Coordinates activities with regulatory agencies and ensures follow-up.
-- Conducts performance reviews and carries out disciplinary action as necessary for staff directly supervised.
-- Works a flexible schedule, which may involve considerable overtime including evening and weekend hours.
-- Schedules staff coverage to meet intervention hours and/or habilitative requirements.
-- Provides immediate direction and necessary approval for actions, purchases and plans of staff to allow agency operations to continue smoothly.
-- Ensures follow-up to safety committee recommendations.
-- Provides data necessary and assists in fiscal and administrative planning as a member of the agency's management team.
-- Fills in for direct line staff when no substitutes are available.
-- Reviews and approves time cards, attendance sheets and other reports as assigned.
-- Supervises volunteers as necessary.
-- Interprets policies and procedures to staff to ensure safety, improve communication and provide quality services.
-- Recommends procurement of facilities and equipment as necessary.
-- Manages and/or maintains and/or monitors individuals' personal finances.
-- Serves on regional committees as assigned.
-- Coordinates and facilitates regular staff meetings.
-- Performs minor maintenance activities and/or contacts the appropriate person for repairs.
Other duties as assigned to meet the needs of Region V Services.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-- Considerable knowledge in evaluation and teaching techniques for instruction of persons with disabilities.
-- Ability to train and supervise staff, exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions and maintaining and preparing moderately complex records.
-- Ability to communicate effectively with others.
-- Considerable knowledge of the use and interpretation of assessments and data collection as it relates to people with developmental disabilities.
-- Lifting may be required at the service location. If lifting or other adaptive equipment is available, it MUST be used.

Qualifying Education, Training and Experience:
-- Bachelors Degree in a related field or is actively pursuing a bachelor's degree.
-- Two years experience in human services.

Special Requirements:
-- Possession of a driver's license valid in the state of Nebraska or other adequate means of transportation.
-- Performs duties on-call to attend to area program emergencies.
-- Must possess a reliable means of communication (e.g. telephone, cell phone, etc.).
