Responsibilities
  1. Assists with pre-procedure education and preparing patient for procedure.
    1. Collaborates with other staff to assure patient has a thorough understanding of procedure and is able to answer questions as needed.
    2. Assures patient is positioned properly for the procedure.
    3. Assures EKG electrodes are properly placed and cardiac electrodes correctly applied.
    4. Assures skin is prepped and sterilized appropriately prior to procedural draping.
    5. Sets up patient and sterile equipment in accordance to the performing physician’s preferences.
  2. Scrubs and assists physicians during procedures.
    1. Assists physician in sterile placement of invasive and hemodynamic monitoring equipment.
    2. Uses fine motor skills to assist physician with the placement/deployment/use of invasive catheters, wires, balloons, stents, structural heart devices, Intra-aortic balloon counter-pulsation equipment, percutaneous left ventricular assist devices, implantable cardiac devices, and electrophysiology catheters/3-D intra-cardiac conduction mapping.
  3. Performs monitoring function throughout procedures. Documents clinical information in patient record.
    1. Operates hemodynamic monitoring equipment.
      1. Recognize and report changes in the cardiac rhythm.
      2. Recognize and report changes in hemodynamic waveforms.
  • Accurately documents the flow of events from start thru completion of procedure.
  1. Performs arterial and/or venous sheath removal utilizing deployment of closure devices, manual pressure, or mechanical compression and transport patients.
  2. Performs daily maintenance, quality assurance testing, equipment cleaning, and supply re-stocking.
  3. Effectively communicates and works cooperatively with team members, patients, families, guests, and providers.
  4. On-call rotation may be required and must be able to respond to emergent within 30 minutes of notification.
  5. Participates in all safety, security, and infection control programs that are mandatory as well as those required and provided by the department.
  6. Demonstrates work practices consistent with CHI Health and department-specific safety, security, infection control, and HIPAA policies.
  7. Resource floating within the metro area may be required in order to provide staffing support to other campuses.

Qualifications

Education:

-Graduate of an AMA approved program in Radiologic Technology.


Licenses & Certifications:

- Registered Radiologic Technologist RT(R) credential from the ARRT or a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) credential from CCI. New graduates who are registry eligible may be considered. RT(R) or RCIS credential must be obtained within 6 months of start date.
- Radiology Technologists must possess a Medical Radiographer License in Nebraska and/or a Diagnostic Radiographer Permit in Iowa to practice. License or permit must be held in the state(s) in which you practice.
- AHA Basic Life Support certification for healthcare providers is required upon hire.
- AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification within 90 days of start date.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

- Knowledge of radiographic views and equipment.
- Knowledge of EKG rhythms and abnormalities.
- Knowledge of cardiac and vascular anatomy.
