Ameritas is seeking our next VP, Capital Management to provide leadership in capital management for Ameritas.  In this role you will be responsible for the development of enterprise capital models, recommendations for utilization of financial reinsurance for capital relief purposes as well as reinsurance for purposes of earnings management for underperforming blocks or blocks where there is a desire to change the risk profile. In addition, you will provide input to the risk appetite for the enterprise as it impacts capital and may interact with rating agencies regarding external capital models.  The role is an integral part of the organization and helps the company effectively manage surplus and capital to ensure proper capital is maintained to ensure financial strength of Ameritas for years to come.

What you do

* Directs the development of capital models for Ameritas – AM Best, S&P, NAIC RBC, internally developed – which includes helping set the overall capital targets each year. * Ensures the ongoing monitoring of capital levels by entity and at enterprise level and analyzes the RBC impacts of potential actions. * Oversees capital solvency analysis in support of Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA).

* Recommends financial reinsurance solutions for capital relief purposes and negotiates terms. * Recommends reinsurance solutions for earnings management purposes for underperforming blocks or blocks where there is a desire to change the risk profile which includes negotiating terms of the reinsurance agreement. * Participates in annual and multi-year planning process as well as quarterly financial process as appropriate for capital analysis. * Evaluates merger and acquisition opportunities in the context of economic risk, capital implications and our risk appetite statement.

* Collaborates with investments and Asset Liability Management to evaluate strategies in the product and surplus portfolios to balance risk, return and capital impacts. * Collaborates with the lines of business to analyze blocks of business for expected returns vs. actual to provide insight for discussions around continued capital deployment. * Collaborates with lines of business and senior leadership on special projects as appropriate to the role.

What you bring

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience. * 10+ years of capital management and financial reinsurance experience. * FSA or Career ASA required. * Exposure to asset liability management preferred. * Strong interpersonal and relationship skills partnering with various key internal and external stakeholders.   * Solid communication, influencing and presentation skills.
