Lead the development and management of technology platforms supporting Ameritas Shared Services business units

This position will be responsible for day-to-day technology and service throughout entire technology lifecycle; and is responsible for the adoption, continuous improvement and management of change affecting the technologies under their care.  Responsible for the continued delivery, development, and ongoing management and support of business applications.  Act as the technical owner and primary leader of applications supporting Shared Services business units across Ameritas, including Finance & Account, Actuarial, Human Resource, and Marketing.

A successful candidate will leverage a background in software/systems development to lead application delivery teams composed of internal and external resources. The successful candidate will also work to ensure that Ameritas is getting the efficient, effective, compliant, and secure support we need from our vendor partners. Important success factors in this role will include a strong drive for results, an ability to build a team relationship with vendor partners, and an ability to influence across internal and external organizations.

What you do

* Lead application and system support for assigned applications.  Set and measure performance objectives and provide regular one-on-one feedback to all members of the team * Supervise staff who support present and future software applications and their workflow processes, providing strong leadership and leveraging a staff growth and motivation mindset * Oversee application performance monitoring, evaluation, and optimization * Maintain application road map and work with all stakeholders to set priorities which achieve specified outcomes * Lead and manage multiple complex and strategic initiatives * Assess user needs including analysis of opportunities to take advantage of available tools  * Communicate system problems within the department and collaborates with other teams and vendors on changes, fixes, and updates  * Provide metrics on anticipated needs during budget cycle and submit procurement requests * Maintain relationship with vendor partners * Manage a blended delivery staffing model, including recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training both employees and external partners * Uphold the company’s commitment to protect the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data for assigned applications * Develop and maintain an effective on-call rotation for 24/7 support. Ensure ongoing troubleshooting, support, and maintenance of applications, including 24/7 on call coverage as required * Remain current on new developments and forecast future trends in the area of application integration in Shared Services areas * Maintain a strong understanding of technology and applying it to achieve business objectives * Partner with other IT personnel in identifying, evaluating, selecting, and implementing specific technologies that support the business plans and IT strategies  * Manage delivery and SLAs by guiding incident resolution, problem management, maintenance, and enhancement tickets raised by end users * Manage the release process for applications which includes both department wide and end user communication 

What you bring

* Bachelor of Computer Science, or equivalent combination of education and experience required * 7+ years of experience in IT Applications demonstrating progressively increasing responsibility * Previous people leader experience required, including development and performance management * Functional knowledge of project management standards, processes, and best practices desired. * Must be a self-starter with innate curiosity who thrives in fast-paced continuous improvement mindset * Master’s degree in a relevant area of study preferred but not required * Experience with Actuarial and/or Finance & Accounting technology desired but not required
