Thisjob is responsible for providing nursing care and support to
patients under thedirection of a Registered Nurse (RN) in a defined
care team and in accordancewith assigned tasks and permitted by the
Nursing Skills Checklist, with theexception of administering
medication. An incumbent assumesresponsibility for their own
actions taking into consideration clinicalexperience/education
preparation, while being an active student in anaccredited nursing
program. A school-signed copy of the incumbent's NursingSkills
Checklist is kept on file and updated regularly. Tasksare assigned
by nursing staff in clear, detailed and specific instructions.
Employees work as instructed and seek guidance on matters
notspecifically covered in the original instructions. Work is
reviewedthrough progress checks for accuracy, adequacy and
adherence to standards,instructions and established procedures.
KeyJob Responsibilities: * Provides patientpersonal care/hygiene
and physical comfort within assigned tasks and permittedby Nursing
Skills Checklist, including feeding, bathing, shaving,
changingclothes, bed making, ambulation, lifting, turning, moving,
transferring,enemas, skin care and bowel/bladder elimination.
Provides such additionalcare as required to meet the personal
primary needs and comfort of assignedpatient based on skill,
ability, and patient acuity. Prepares patient,equipment and
supplies for specific procedures/examinations. * Performs,
monitors,reports and documents all clinical activities within
assigned tasks andpermitted by Nursing Skills Checklist. Observes
and reports changes in patientcondition to the RN. Obtains, labels
and transports a variety of samples(e.g. urine, stool, sputum
specimens and blood products). * Assistsnursing staff in the
admission, discharge and transfer of patient by
performingactivities such as inventory/storing patient belongings,
providing patient withrelevant personal care/comfort items,
orienting patient/family and transportingpatient to room or other
location using wheelchairs, stretchers or patient bed. *
Providespatient information to nursing staff for inclusion in the
interdisciplinaryplan of care; documents relevant patient data in
accordance with work unitstandards. * Maintainsa neat and organized
work environment. Orders, stocks and replenishessupplies and
equipment as necessary, identifies and reports problems
withsupplies or equipment; enters equipment repair request in
system, tagsequipment and removes from service. * Maintainsa safe
work and patient environment, adhering to the hospital's Safety,
RiskManagement, Regulatory Standards and infection prevention. *
Participatesin quality assurance/improvement initiatives and
activities. Participatesin growth opportunities. QUALIFICATIONS:
RequiredEducation: Currentenrollment as a Junior or Senior in an
accredited Registered Nurse, Bachelor ofScience Degree program or
final year in a Registered Nurse, Associate Degreeprogram.
RequiredLicensure and Certifications: Mustbe registered as a Nurse
Aide in the state of practice. Currenthealthcare provider BLS
certification. RequiredMinimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of basicpatient care practices (including BLS), standards
and tools/equipment. Knowledge of patientconfidentiality/safety
guidelines and proper body mechanics as applied topatient movement

Ability to communicateeffectively with patients, family and
co-workers. Ability to use properbody mechanics, proper posture,
and appropriate repetition relief and staticposture relief
maneuvers. Ability to followverbal and written instructions in an
efficient, accurate and timelymanner. Ability to useeffective
customer service skills with both internal and externalcustomers.
Ability to read,understand and communicate in English sufficient to
perform the duties of theposition. Ability to use officeequipment
and automated systems/applications/software at an acceptable level.
Abilityto establish and maintain effective working relationships as
