Overview
GD-OTS is looking for a -Manufacturing Engineer-Technology
(Automation Engineer) to join our Lincoln, NE research and
development organization. -We are expanding rapidly and looking for
motivated and creative individuals who want to help support and
shape this organization as we grow. -
GD-OTS provides reliable and affordable composite products to the
defense and commercial aerospace markets. With more than 50 years
of expertise, General Dynamics designs, develops, manufactures and
tests a full range of composite missile and space structures,
including rocket motors, pressure vessels, launch tubes and fuel
tanks.
Major Position Responsibilities
- For assigned automation projects the Automation Engineer will
work to define the problem statement and technical requirements,
coordinate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to determine
an appropriate technical solution, and oversee the development and
implementation of the solution.
- Assist with the development of new equipment specifications,
supplier selection, quote reviews and technical support through
design, installation, and verification activities.
- May function in project leadership role on moderately sized
projects or assist a more senior engineer on large scale
projects.
- Apply creativity and advanced technical concepts to automate
manufacturing processes while: accounting for the safety of the
facility and its staff, improving efficiencies,
maintaining/improving product quality, and adhering to internal
company SOPs.
- Identification of new opportunities for automation within the
manufacturing process and helping justify which projects to
implement based on quality improvements and/or cost savings
potential.
- Generate clear and accurate documentation of automation
equipment or processes including operation instructions,
electrical, mechanical, and P&ID schematics.
- Support continuous improvement and root cause corrective action
efforts by proposing automated solutions to manufacturing
challenges and leading the implementation efforts for any selected
automated solutions.
- Troubleshooting automated processes or equipment when errors
occur.
Basic Qualifications
BA/BS plus 3+ years of experience in automation, manufacturing, or
project engineering
Experience with some combination of:
- PLC and HMI programming
- CNC Programming
- Robotics design or programming
- Laser and or Vision Inspection Systems
- Industrial Hydraulic or Pneumatic systems
- Drafting Electrical, Piping, and Instrumentation
Schematics
- 3D Modeling and Drafting
- Ignition SCADA system client development and scripting
- Programming in Java, Python, or SQL languages
- Professional project management tools
