SummaryUnder the direct supervision of the Accounting and Payroll Supervisor, the Payroll Specialist is responsible for the planning, organization, preparation, analysis, and processing of Region V Services payroll processing and reconciliation for monthly payroll processing. ScheduleThis position is part-time, based on a 20-29-hour workweek.A full-time, 40 hours per week schedule may be available with additional duties assigned if desired by the candidate. Essential FunctionsResponsible for the preparation, analysis, maintenance, and processing of payroll-- Ensures accurate and timely set up of new employees in the HRIS and Time and Labor system-- Ensures accuracy and compliance in all payroll functions including but not limited to payroll taxes, paid leave accruals, employee contribution and deductions, and accurate/timely reporting-- Ensures accurate and timely payroll processing of earnings, deductions, garnishments, etc.-- Responsible for the timely processing of wage verifications for both internal and external requests. Employee Benefits-- Works collaboratively and cooperatively with the Human Resources department to ensure accuracy in benefit deduction processing. -- Reconciles billing from benefit providers and ensures payment processing-- Produces reports to track FMLA hours and usage.-- Workers Compensation - provides reports as requested to support the reporting and tracking of worker's compensation claims. -- Ensures timely and accurate COBRA processing for job changes and terminations. Compliance, Regulation, and Accurate Record Keeping-- Maintain current knowledge, understanding, and application of payroll tax laws, Federal, State employer requirements.-- Maintain accurate record keeping.-- Conversion of paper to electronic record keeping.Maintains Payroll Process Documentation -- Maintains standard processes and operations manuals for payroll processes-- Makes recommendations to supervisor for process improvement implementation. Customer Service-- Serves as the main point of contact for employees and supervisors to provide excellent customer service to resolve end user issues such as username and password resets, interpretation of pay summaries, and other common inquiries. -- Manages the payroll communications and ensures timely and accurate responses to employee inquiries. -- Provides backup support for Central Office administrative functions such as inbound calls, mail distribution, or other general office functions.Serves as a member of the accounting team-- Active and engaged member of the accounting team and other teams as assigned to ensure communication and accuracy between departments-- Provides support and training to employees, supervisors, and others in the use of the time and labor system. Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications -- Associate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. o Additional work experience in the areas of payroll or accounting may be considered as substituted for degree completion-- Two or more years of progressively responsible full-time work experience in payroll. Bachelor's degree in accounting or another relevant area of study may substitute for years of work experience. Desired Qualifications -- Experience with Paylocity HRIS and payroll system-- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or willing to complete education and certification PI196509905
