Job Description:

The Payroll Accountant supports all payroll operations at CIP

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Oversee and process bi-weekly payroll, which includes administration of compensation and benefits with the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism
Record payroll journal entries for income, voluntary and involuntary withholdings, payroll tax reconciliations, intercompany transactions, and other items critical to meeting deadlines
Review and reconcile PTO accruals
Ensure Periodic and quarterly payroll tax payments and filings are complete and accurately facilitate completion of new tax registrations
Analyze payroll for irregularities and provide monthly comparisons using analytics and spreadsheets as needed
Ensure the accurate and timely set up of court ordered wage garnishments including child support, student loans, wage assignments, bankruptcy orders, state and federal levies as directed allowing for withholding and subsequent payment
Allocate salary expenses to appropriate accounts while using receipt, disbursements, and journal entries functions within Yardi software and ensure accurate and timely reporting to Accounting regarding periodic and month-end reporting and general ledger interface
Facilitate payroll audits, providing all documents relative to processing and balancing
Oversee Paycor payroll issue resolutions and perform HR and Payroll configuration activities as needed
Assist with the issuance and distribution of W2 documents and participate in federal, state, and local yearend activities including ACA reporting and assistance with PPP loan
Assist in Accounts Payable accounting functions within department
Responsible for maintenance and security of payroll records
Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
In partnership with our third-party Benefits Administrator, ensure employee benefit deductions are accounted for and deducted accurately and conduct benefit reconciliation processes
In partnership with our 401(k) providers, ensure employee deferrals are deducted appropriately and reported accurately and assist with 401(k) audit requests
Effectively communicates and interacts will all levels of employees and management in a positive and professional manner

What you need for success:
Bachelor's degree and 1-3 years' experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Paycor payroll processing software experience preferred, but not required
Advanced use of Excel
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units or measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Ability to interpret and retain a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and electronic form.
