Job Description:

Position DescriptionThis is a dual role which performs duties at the professional level in some or all of the following functional areas: employee relations, training, recruiting, affirmative action, benefits, policy implementation, collecting data, measuring hazards, OSHA compliance, and workers compensation / injury management. This position requires a person who is capable of relating to individuals at all levels within the organization and is dependable, a self-starter & can work independently. This role will work closely with Operations, Management and Maintenance.Essential FunctionsJob duties may change over time and additional job functions may become essential. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Maintain all employee and applicant documentation as dictated by governing agencies. Manage and track all employee disciplinary action. Assist with Unemployment Notices and potential charges in a timely, efficient manner. Attend unemployment hearings with the HR & Safety Manager, when necessary. Review applications, schedule/coordinate interviews & conduct interviews. Create job offer letters and coordinate pre-hire requirements, based on hourly or salaried status. Monitor tardy and absenteeism reports and ensures proper documentation is issued. Report vacation, personal days, and holiday use to payroll. Maintain & distribute weekly, monthly and annual reporting. Administer the time off procedure for hourly and salary employees. Maintain employee personnel, medical, safety & workers' compensation files. Ensure compliance with USCIS Form I-9 Employment Verification; periodically audits Form I-9. Distribute & monitor employee performance evaluations to ensure they are completed in a timely manner, probationary & annually. Update, monitor & maintain eligible pay adjustments/increases. Assist with workers' compensation case files, restrictions updates and managing employees on light duty. Monitor employee eligibility for benefits plans. Review benefits with employees & processes enrollment, cancellation or changes. Administer COBRA for group health plans. Maintain and coordinate employee recognition programs. Conduct new hire HR & Safety orientation for all incoming hourly employees, assist with salary orientation as needed. Create, revise and communicate information, policies, procedures, announcements, letters, etc. Communicate with employment agencies, state agencies, and applicants, as directed. Maintain affirmative action records, E-verify new hires, maintain applicant log. Maintain locker assignments, PPE issuance, and time card distribution. Assist with mailings and communications to employees. Assist employees in scheduling Family Medical Leaves and STD/LTD leaves. Assist Payroll Department to resolve payroll discrepancies and errors for employees in ADP. Serve as a back-up for payroll. Assist HR & Safety Manager with coordinating & planning company events for employees. Assist with wellness events & initiatives. Research, develop, implement and evaluate the organization's health & safety programs, procedures, facilities and equipment Conduct, collect and analyze noise, ventilation and air sampling Create and facilitate health & safety engagement through teams and committees needed to accomplish established targets Perform job hazard assessments and recommend measures to control exposures (personal protective equipment, work practice changes and/or engineering controls) Track and measure corrective actions and improvements, follow-up with Operations & Maintenance as needed Facilitate incident and accident investigations to identify their causes and prevention Conduct training and educate employees Assist in coordination and completion of monthly safety inspections / training, as well as annual training requirements Continuous improvement projects Coordinates and maintains relationships with outside vendors regarding all health & safety related protocol and productsExpected Areas of Competence (KSAs) Flexible Self-Motivated Analytical & Problem Solving Skills Dependable & Accountable Technical Aptitude Detail Oriented & Organized Ethical Practice Honesty / Integrity Confidentiality Resourceful Communication: Oral & Written Time Management & PrioritizationThis position description is intended to cover the most significant, ongoing job functions and competency areas. Successful performance in the role will require performing satisfactorily other duties as assigned. Education And Experience Requirements High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): required Associates or Bachelor's Degree: strongly preferred. Field of Study: Human Resources, Business Administration, and/or Safety Management Ability to speak, read & write in Spanish is strongly preferred Minimum of two to five years of experience in Human Resource or Safety Prior manufacturing or heavy industrial experience is strongly preferred Proficient in Microsoft office applications: Word, Excel & PowerPoint ADP and/or payroll experience is preferred Completion of OSHA 30 Hour certification preferredPhysical RequirementsSedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
