Description Job Title: Supervisor - Concessions FLSA Status: Non-exempt Classification: Full-time Hours: Availability required on weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings Pay Rate: Range starts at $20.49/hour Summary: Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium is seeking a guest-first, hospitality-driven Concession Supervisor to lead teams to ensure concession areas operate at maximum efficiency while delivering a consistently exceptional guest experience. The Concession Supervisor is responsible for creating welcoming, efficient, and guest-ready concession environments by actively supporting frontline staff, anticipating guest needs during high-volume service, resolving concerns in the moment, and ensuring service standards align with the Zoo’s commitment to memorable family experiences. This role models positive hospitality behaviors, supports and coaches frontline staff, and ensures every guest interaction reflects professionalism, warmth, and care in a fast-paced concessions setting. The Concession Supervisor must be available five days a week with a varied schedule and will work closely with the Assistant Manager of the Concessions Department to uphold service quality, teamwork, and operational excellence. The Concessions Supervisor is responsible for, but not limited to, assisting with employee hiring, training, positive employee engagement, cash control, proper food safety, assisting Concessions Crew Members, and the daily operations of assigned stands. This position reports directly to the Concessions Assistant Manager. Duties and Responsibilities (include but not limited to): Assist in supervising concession operations and employees (up to 150 - 250 employees). Supervise daily opening, closing, and sanitation procedures. Train and maintain a reliable workforce with an exceptional customer service attitude. Review schedules with Shift Supervisors. Ensure that Shift Supervisors and Crew Leads are properly trained on daily paperwork, ordering, operating equipment, preventive maintenance records, and inventory, and that paperwork is completed and turned in properly. Assist the Concessions Assistant Manager in reviewing proper sales vs. staffing in concession department. Be knowledgeable of and properly train employees on the acceptable procedures for food preparation, portioning, and presentation. Maintain cash control policy and ensure procedures are followed. Monitor compliance of all food and safety handling procedures. Monitor compliance of Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo operational guidelines. Attending scheduled department meetings. Assist Shift Supervisors in placing daily req forms for their stands. Assist Concessions Assistant Manager in maintaining records of product received and transferred to all Food and Beverage Departments and other zoo departments. Assist in maintaining a controlled and secured inventory of quality products for the central concession warehouse. Responsible for inventory, cash register training, and new product training. Ensure assigned stands maintain the standards set by the zoo in quality, safety, service, and cleanliness for all employees and customers. Supervise building recycling programs. Assist in vending machine operation and portable food carts. Cross train to work in all Food and Beverage Departments and Guest Experience areas. Assist at special events in Food and Beverage Department. Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must be a minimum of 18 years of age. High School Diploma or GED required. One year of experience in food service management. Certification of special training is helpful including, but not limited to, front line supervision, cash handling management, and compliance of health regulations and sanitary standards. ServSafe certificate required (zoo can facilitate if not currently certified). Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Capable of operating and training personnel on point-of-sale cash register system. Knowledge of restaurant supplies, equipment, ordering, and inventory control. Candidates might be (depending on position) required to pass a pre-employment background check, drug test, negative skin tuberculosis test, and possess a valid drivers license with a good history. Work Environment/Physical Demands: Will sometimes work extended/odd hours including weekends, holidays and some night programs. Must be able to walk long distances across the zoo. Work in various weather conditions. Must be able to stand, sit, kneel, bend, twist, reach above head and climb. Will lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds using safe and proper lifting methods.
