Job Description SummaryProvide leadership and administrative skills
necessary for the direction of the Shipping, Receiving and
Sterilization Departments. Responsible for achieving sterilization
production goals, the distribution of finished goods, the receipt
and proper storage of raw materials, the issuing of required
manufacturing supplies to production; and, meeting Departmental
budgetary goals, while maintaining standards for GMP, Quality and
Safety. These goals will be achieved through a combination of
delegations of authority to key subordinates. Job Description Be

most challenging global health issues. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Assist
with daily planning/scheduling and coordinate the day-to-day
operation of the Sterilization Department and the Shipping and
Receiving Department. Maintain, review and revise as necessary all
specifications departmental procedures related to the approved
Quality System. Provide direction to salaried non-exempt and hourly
workforce within the areas of safety, crewing, scheduling,
methods/means of production, quality and waste standards,
efficiencies and productivity, employee relations, and
reinforcement of company policies and procedures. Promote positive
employee relations. Consult with, and take direction from, Human
Resources and Material Control Manager regarding special employee
problems, policies, discipline and labor relations initiatives or
issues, etc. Support BD/plant improvement initiatives such as, Six
Sigma, Validation, LEAN Manufacturing, and BDPS 2.0, providing
adequate training and working to ensure the necessary resources to
drive the success of these programs. Direct efforts of continuous
improvements to areas of responsibility, while ensuring that
manufactured products meet quality and GMP requirements. Monitor
and react to daily productivity and waste issues. Work closely with
the Supply Chain Manager to establish departmental budgets, cost
reduction goals and utilization or improvement objectives.
Communicates and reinforces objectives with direct subordinates.
Monitor staffing needs and communicate crewing or shortages to
Supply Chain and Human Resources Managers. Coordinate and/or
initiate personnel requisitions for approval. Conduct interviews
and insure new hires are adequately trained. Develop direct reports
and provide performance feedback to direct reports. Generate
preliminary annual performance appraisals for review by the Supply
Chain and Human Resources Managers. Administer performance
appraisals to his/her direct reports. Provide feedback and
direction regarding personal contribution or effectiveness, goals,
objectives and recommendations for personal development. Ensure
that associates receive effective performance related feedback and
training. Monitor and protect company assets. Reinforce company
expectations regarding employee contribution and behavior/conduct.
Interact with the Supply Chain and Engineering Managers to
coordinate preventative maintenance. Assist with the scheduling and
coordination of work during the annual shutdown period. Coordinate
required cobalt replenishment activities. Assist Microbiology in
source load validation activities and ensure necessary materials
and resources are available. Assist and Support the Radiation
Safety Officers (RSOs) to ensure adequate training of Sterilization
Associates while maintaining safe work conditions and complying
with all regulatory requirements of the State of Nebraska
Department of Heath, and US Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Be
familiar with all regulatory requirements of FDA and DOT as they
apply to handling, storage and distribution of raw materials and
finished goods, and Hazardous Material shipments. Facilitate
departmental meetings as deemed necessary, and support daily SSU
meetings SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE Ensure new employees
review and understand their Job Safety Analysis. Review on-the-job
safety with employees during performance reviews. Update department
Job Safety Analysis when a job process changes. Work with the
Employee Safety and Environmental Committee to schedule department
safety audits, review and respond to audit issues. Participate in
Plant Safety and Environmental meetings. Establish and report on
annual safety and environmental goals as set out in Standards of
Performance. Goals to be specific, measurable, trackable, and
include as many parameters as possible. Provide and maintain a safe
and healthful place to work: Know the actual conditions of the
operating equipment and environment. Be constantly alert to observe
and correct unsafe conditions and practices. Predict and forestall
the possibility of an accident, and correct the condition that led
to the prediction. Investigate reports of unsafe conditions and
correct the cause. Know what,where, when, and why personal
protective equipment should be worn. Follow up. In addition to
issuing work orders, project requests, etc. check the progress
frequently until results are obtained. Maintain good housekeeping.
Provide and maintain a safe process to follow: Know the process and
the "why" of it. Know the properties and hazards of the materials
involved. Be alert to improve the present processes from the safety
standpoint based on knowledge of the materials and methods
involved. Evaluate new and existing processes from a safety
standpoint. Encourage suggestions for improved job methods, but
stress that approval must be obtained before any changes are tried.
Prevent "shortcuts" by being certain that employees know the job
hazards and the corrective measure for each. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Other responsibilities of this position include but are not limited
to: Complies with, and responsible for enforcing, all local, state,
federal and BD safety regulations, policies/procedures. Complies
with all local BD quality policies/procedures/practices through
consistent application of sound Quality Assurance principles.
Ensures compliance through appropriate communication, training, and
education of sound Quality Assurance principles. Responsible for
the activities and programs as defined for this position in the
Quality Systems Manual - BD Broken Bow. Performs other job related
duties as assigned. Observes all safety, environmental and quality
system standards. All requirements are subject to possible

Education A four (4) year degree in Business Administration,
Industrial Engineering or applicable work experience. Working
knowledge of Gamma Irradiation and/or previous DOT experience
preferred. Experience Three (3) years experience as a supervisor
within an industrial/manufacturing setting preferred. Previous
experience supervising salaried and/or hourly employees in
multi-shift and cross-departmental responsibilities preferred.
Experience in setting and working toward the achievement of
manufacturing budgets, developed interpersonal skills and the
ability to reinforce expectations or goals while holding employees
accountable to desired results and an applied understanding of
industrial safety and OSHA and regulatory compliance. For certain
