Registered Nurse - PCU/Stepdown – UHC Staffing Registered Nurse - PCU/Stepdown Location: Grand Island, NE Start Date: 12-15-2025 End Date: 03-16-2026 Contract Type: Travel Contract Shift Type: Night shifts, 12-hour nights, 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM; schedule assigned by unit, includes every-other-weekend and holiday coverage as needed (guaranteed 36 hours/week) Hours per Week: 36 Candidate Pay Rate: $65 per hour About United Health Care Staffing At United Health Care Staffing (UHC Staffing), we believe healthcare staffing should be more than just finding a job. Roles & Responsibilities Assess patients continuously and prioritize care for PCU/stepdown patients with complex needs Monitor and interpret telemetry strips and act promptly on meaningful changes Titrate IV drips safely (Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, Insulin) per protocol Administer IV medications and maintenance infusions with precision and best practices Provide high-quality bedside report and hourly rounding to improve patient experience and safety Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including RTs (BiPAP, Airvo) and CNAs, to coordinate care Document comprehensively in EPIC and maintain accurate clinical records Support admissions, discharges, and time-sensitive patient flow while maintaining calm and teamwork Qualifications Active RN license for practice in Nebraska (or eligible to obtain prior to start) Minimum 2 years of RN experience (PCU/stepdown, telemetry, or critical care experience preferred) Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (must be current at time of submission) Demonstrated competency in telemetry strip interpretation and IV medication/drip titration Driver's license required at submission to confirm radius eligibility (50-mile rule applies) Ability to pass orientation pass/fail exam with a 90% score (open book; resources provided) Willingness to float to MedSurg, Inpatient Rehab, or Skilled Care as needed Education Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred or encouraged Knowledge & Skills Telemetry monitoring and strip interpretation IV medication administration and titration protocols Stroke assessment using NIHSS Proficiency with EPIC charting system ACLS and BLS emergency response skills Experience with BiPAP and high-flow devices like Airvo Strong bedside reporting, hourly rounding, and patient advocacy Teamwork, time management, and ability to work in fast-paced admitting/discharging cycles Benefits Generous housing stipend and travel reimbursement so you can focus on patients, not packing boxes Competitive pay with overtime and holiday differentials for night warriors Paid orientation and a supportive preceptor program to get you comfortable on day one Licensure assistance and reimbursement to keep your credentials current Access to EPIC training and clinical resources so charting is less painful A collaborative team that values bedside report, hourly rounding, and your voice Flexible scheduling discussions handled by unit schedulers to help balance life and work Opportunity to grow your skills in telemetry, critical care drips, and stroke care Travel Perks: Explore Grand Island, NE Explore Grand Island between shifts: visit the Stuhr Museum of the Prairie Pioneer for local history, catch live racing or events at Fonner Park, enjoy riverside walks and birdwatching along the Platte River during migration season, and sample local eateries and breweries downtown.
