Registered Nurse - ICU – UHC Staffing Registered Nurse - ICU Location: Omaha, NE Start Date: 03-16-2026 End Date: 06-15-2026 Contract Type: Travel Contract Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts, Days: 6:30 AM - 6:30 PM; Nights: 6:30 PM - 6:30 AM; schedule set by manager and may include any day of the week (every-other weekend required; holiday coverage 2 of 3 major holidays or as scheduled). Roles & Responsibilities Provide high-quality critical care for adult and adolescent patients in a fast-paced Med-Surg ICU environment Interpret telemetry strips and monitor cardiac rhythms independently using Draeger centralized telemetry Titrate vasoactive drips and other titratable medications safely and per protocol Troubleshoot and manage ventilators and advanced respiratory support from nasal cannula to full ventilator care Respond to codes and rapid response team (RRT) activations as part of the emergency response team Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, RTs, fellows and residents to coordinate patient care Document accurately and timely in EPIC to ensure continuity of care and clear communication Support unit throughput and quality initiatives while maintaining a positive, team-first attitude Qualifications Active RN license in the state of practice (required at time of submission) Current BLS and ACLS certifications (required); NIHSS certification required Minimum 2 years of recent acute care/ICU experience preferred Comfort with titrating drips (vasopressors, paralytics, sedatives, analgesics) and managing complex patients Ability to read and interpret telemetry independently Valid driver's license required at submittal to confirm radius rule eligibility Willingness to complete unit orientation, pass an open-book skills exam (90% pass threshold), and follow facility policies (e.g., no artificial nails in patient-care areas) Education Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required BSN: not explicitly required (no BSN mandate stated) Knowledge & Skills Strong critical care nursing fundamentals including hemodynamic monitoring and ventilator troubleshooting Experience or familiarity with EPIC documentation and centralized telemetry systems Knowledge of invasive monitoring: arterial lines, central venous pressure (CVP), Swan-Ganz monitoring (can train on-site) Familiarity with CRRT, Impella/balloon pump management, ICP monitoring, and rapid transfuser systems (training available) Excellent critical thinking, situational awareness, and teamwork skills in high-acuity settings Effective verbal and written communication with multidisciplinary teams and patients/families Benefits Generous travel support and concierge-style placement help to make your move smooth and stress-free Medical, dental & vision coverage options so you can focus on patients and not paperwork Licensure assistance and reimbursement to keep your credentials current and portable Robust orientation and training (unit-specific orientation plus skills review) so you feel confident from day one Paid time off and flexible scheduling options to help you recharge between intense assignments A supportive team environment that values critical thinking, curiosity, and collaboration Opportunities to work with advanced teams (neurointerventionalists, fellows, residents) — great for skill growth Referral program and recognition for excellent performance and teamwork Travel Perks: Explore Omaha, NE Explore Omaha between shifts: wander the Old Market’s cobblestone streets and lively eateries, visit the world-renowned Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium, stroll or bike across the scenic Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge, enjoy art at the Joslyn Art Museum, discover local breweries and coffee shops, and catch live music or farmers markets downtown.
