Registered Nurse (RN) | Progressive Care Unit Location: Council Bluffs, IA Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,272 per week Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 3/2/2026 About the Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Must pass a skills exam during orientation Description: RN’s must pass a skills exam during orientation with a required score of 90% to avoid termination. Candidates must not be employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any associated facility within the past year. A driver's license is required for submission and will help determine geographical eligibility. Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care. Refusal to comply will lead to termination of contract. The unit consists of 22 beds with a nurse to patient ratio of 1:4. Common diagnoses include heart failure, Afib, respiratory distress, and stroke. RNs are required to titrate drips, including Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitro. A charge nurse is present on each shift and takes a full patient assignment. Patient care technicians assist on this unit with a ratio of 1:10. RNs may need to troubleshoot CPAP equipment and are required to read and interpret telemetry strips. Shifts are cyclic with weekend requirements of every other weekend. Holiday requirements include one major and one minor holiday. RNs may float to ICU if appropriate and have the required experience. The department experiences a high volume of admits and discharges. Successful nurses in this department demonstrate a positive attitude, teamwork, and a patient-oriented focus. Requested time off must be provided upfront, and additional requests may not be approved. The hospital can cancel up to four shifts for a 13-week assignment. Charting is done through the EPIC system. A BSN is required for submission. The trauma level is 3 and the care setting is acute.
