RNMUST HAVE CERNER EXP - NO EXCEPTIONS Local: accepted, but BR
drops by $5 if under 50 Methodist Jennie Edmundson RN Float
PoolWhat units are included in the float poolMed Surg, Tele, PCU,
ICU, potential ED if ED exp.No floating to L&D for the float
pool travelers. No Peds experience required but is helpful.
RatiosMS/Tele: 1:6-7PCU: Days 1:4, Nights 1:4-5ICU: 1:1 1:2 3 if
they have overflowRequired Certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS?)BLS,
ACLS, PALS, NIHSS Common diagnoses/Types of patientsICU: STEMI,
CVA- TPA, Sepsis, Multiorgan failure, Covid, EKOS, arrest,
overdose, COPD, CHF, Pneumonia, DKA, post vascular, Swanz, code
freeze, -travelers won't take IABP or Impella unless proficient
PCU: COPD, CHF, Post cath, pacer, ablation, A-Fib RVR, TEE-
Cardioversions bedside, PE, Covid, Sepsis, CVA, TIA, STEMI,
nonstemi, Hypertensive urgency, head injury, dedicated Chest Pain
Center - CP R/O - Stress testMed Surg: General medsurg, Ortho -
total joints, hips, knees, shoulders, spines. Oncology related
admissions and chemo administration, Medsurg overflow.Experience or
'Must have' skills*Ability to read cardiac telemetry.*Must be
proficient with ortho; they have a lot here. *Experience with chest
pain and post heart caths if working in acuity higher than Med Surg
Are RNs required to titrate drips?YesCommon titratable &/or set
rate dripsAll critical care drips including pressors, paralytics,
sedation, heparin, insulin, lasix, Nitro, Cardizem, Amiodarone,
precedex, Dopamine, Dobutamine.Charge Nurse/House Supervisor? Does
the charge nurse take an assignment?Charge nurse on days and
nights, charge may take patient assignment. House Supervisor
available 24/7.Are there nurse aids on this unit/RatiosCNAs and
LPNs depending on the unit.RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap,
etc)MS/TELE/PCU: Cpap, Bipap for OSA only. Rt to manage.ICU:

Monitor Techs? RNs read strips?Monitor techs assisting, however
nurses will also assist and must be competent in strip
interpretation.Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling?

consider block schedules, including every weekend, as long as the
needs of the unit are met but not a guaranteeWeekend

float pool breakroom. Can see assigned unit and then clock in.
Schedule is set 6 weeks in advance, but might not know what unit
you are assigned to until you report for shift. We mostly have been
preassigning travelers to specific units based on the unit staffing
needs and skill set however, there are times when the traveler will
float to a different department due to census. Scrub Color/Dress
