Registered Nurse (RN) | Med/Surg / Orthopedic Location: Council Bluffs, IA Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,200 per week Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 2/16/2026 About the Position TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified Med/Surg / Ortho RN in Council Bluffs, Iowa, 51503! Job Title: Med Surg Ortho RN Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Med Surg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1 year(s) License: Required Certifications: BLS Must-Have: - Candidates must pass an open book exam during orientation. - Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care departments. - A driver's license is required for identification and verification. Description: This position involves working on a medical-surgical unit with a focus on orthopedic care. RNs will care for patients with conditions such as total knees, total hips, shoulder replacements, COPD, diabetes, wounds, IV infusions, and fractures. Patient care also includes managing sepsis, pneumonia, and other medical conditions. RNs are not required to titrate drips. Common medications administered include heparin, IV antibiotics, and narcotics. There is a charge nurse on each shift, who may take on an assignment. Nurse aides/patient care technicians are available with a ratio of 1:10. Monitor techs will assist in the ICU, while RNs will have access to telemetry monitors at the nurses' station. Shifts include self-scheduling with a weekend requirement every third weekend. RNs are expected to float to other departments as needed. The dress code requires navy blue scrubs. Unit practices focus on hourly rounding and bedside shift reporting.
