Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A specialized nursing role is available in a mixed acuity step-down unit requiring comfort across ICU and PCU patient ratios. This assignment involves caring predominantly for cardiovascular surgery and thoracic surgery patients, including those who have undergone procedures such as CABG, TAVR, SAVR, MVR, and VATS. Additional patients may include med/surg, progressive care, and oncology cases requiring advanced cardiovascular support. Key Qualifications: Active RN license in Indiana with all required certifications (ACLS, BCLS; NIH preferred) Minimum of 18 months nursing experience; first-time step-down nurses considered Proficiency in dysrhythmia interpretation, postoperative cardiac surgery care, and complex line management (arterial, central, PICC) Ability to titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips safely Preferred skills include intra-aortic balloon pump management, pre/post cardiac catheter interventions, sheath removal, and ventilator management Weekend availability every other weekend, with two out of three major holidays required Flexibility to float within scope to meet unit needs Responsibilities: Deliver expert care in a short-term acute care setting with patients undergoing advanced cardiovascular and thoracic procedures Manage advanced cardiac monitoring and interventions, including drips and hemodynamic support devices Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes Maintain thorough documentation in Cerner electronic health records Schedule Options: Four 12-hour day shifts (07:00 - 19:30) per week with guaranteed hours Flexibility between 36 to 48 hours per week options available Benefits & Perks: Competitive charge pay differential for eligible shifts Free on-site parking Work in a fully equipped unit with private rooms and overhead lifts Supportive environment with cutting-edge technology and care standards This position is a contract opportunity offering invaluable experience in a demanding yet rewarding clinical setting.
