Job Description:
Job Description Summary /n The Orthopedics RN assists with the
care of adult patients with conditions common to the
Orthopedic/Surgical Unit such as arthritis, diabetes, obesity,
spinal disorders/surgery and fractures. Performs therapeutic
interventions consistent with the unit including but not limited
to: removes total joint and back drains, management of
anticoagulation therapy, mobilizing utilization, traction, pin care
and casts. /n/n The Staff Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for
meeting patients priority needs by assessing, participating in
interdisciplinary care planning, providing and /or delegating care
and evaluating patients responses and progress toward clinical
outcomes. The Staff RN contributes to an efficient and effective
work environment through activities including professional
communication and documentation, preceptoring and/or resourcing of
others. /n/n The Staff RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses
and/or other support staff in the delivery of patient care as
described in Nebraska Statute 38. /n/n RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT
ARE NOT LIMITED TO: /n/n *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs
and consistently demonstrates our core values. /n/n *Initiates
assessment and reassessment based on the patients presenting
problems/needs in accordance with Bryan Medical Centers procedures.
/n/n *Synthesizes pertinent initial and ongoing patient data to
identify nursing priorities for care and desired outcomes/goals.
/n/n *Integrates appropriate standards of care into the patients
plan of care based on the diagnosis and age-specific needs. /n/n
*Executes therapeutic and/or supportive interventions. /n/n
*Provides education for the patient and family to meet identified
patient needs according to their needs, abilities, preferences and
readiness to learn. /n/n *Evaluates the patients response to and
effectiveness of interventions. /n/n *Evaluates patients progress
toward established outcomes. /n/n *Incorporates cultural
considerations into the plan/delivery of care. /n/n *Includes
family or significant others in the care of the patient as
appropriate. /n/n *Documents patient care and related information
according to Bryan Medical Center procedures for documentation.
/n/n *Provides care in conjunction with other members of the
interdisciplinary team. /n/n *Facilitates patients transition to
the next level of care. /n/n *Actively participates in continued
learning opportunities and continued self-development pertinent to
the work unit and duties of the job. /n/n /n/n QUALIFICATIONS: /n/n
Current Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska or
approved compact state of residence as defined by the Nebraska
Nurse Practice Act. Must provide evidence of certification and/or
instruction for practice area as required by State or Federal
standards/regulations. Basic Life Support (CPR) certification
required. /n/n /n
