Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS Must-Have: Strong background in cardiac care. Flexibility to float to Progressive Care Unit and Medical Surgical as needed. Availability to work weekends, with a requirement of 2 weekends per month. Description: Candidates must possess certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS. Nurses will care for patients with conditions including open hearts, congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, overdose, sepsis, and cerebrovascular accidents. The average daily census is more than 5 patients in the unit, which has 10 beds. Patient ratios are typically 1:1 or 1:2 depending on acuity levels. Pediatric experience is preferred, but not mandatory. Great teamwork is emphasized in this setting. Travelers do not engage in self-scheduling; schedules are based on unit needs. Floating will be on an as-needed basis with priority given to those required to float. Shifts run from 6 to 6:30. Holidays require one major and one minor holiday coverage. Scrub colors are navy blue, black, or charcoal grey.
