Supervisiory Senior General Engineer (Formulation and Processing Section) Valparaiso, FL The Munitions Directorate (AFRL/RW) seeks a Section Chief, Formulation and Processing Section, RWMEP, DR-08XX-3 or DR-13XX-3, at Eglin AFB in Valparaiso Florida $104,517 -- $144,701 This job announcement will be accepting candidate submissions from 5 Oct 2020 to 16 Oct 2020. The AFRL Munitions Directorate seeks to hire a DR-08XX-3 Supervisory Senior General Engineer, or DR-13XX-3, Supervisory Senior General Physical Scientist to serve as the Section Chief of Formulation and Processing Section, under Ordnance Division (RWM), Energetic Materials Branch (RWME) at Eglin AFB in Valparaiso Florida. A qualified candidate will have experience in the area of leadership roles of hazardous testing and or laboratory operations, including balancing demands from multiple programs and customers to meet mission priorities. The incumbent will be effective at communicating complex technical and organizational information to senior management. Position duties include, but are not limited to:

• Serves as Section Chief for the Formulation and Processing Section.
• Supervises section of scientists, engineers, and technicians conducting leading-edge research in the formulation and processing of energetic materials.
• Ensures section compliance with the safety and regulatory requirements of handling explosives and other hazardous material
• Leads the development and enhancement of laboratory infrastructure to meet mission needs
• Oversees explosive mixing, casting, curing and machining operations
• Performs expert level multidisciplinary professional engineering and/or scientific work related to energetic materials research
• Applies a number of diverse engineering/scientific practices, techniques, processes to resolve difficult issues and resolutions meets program objectives.
• Demonstrates a mastery of skill applying physical science and or engineering practices, techniques and methodology to identify, analyze, and resolve issues.

  • This position is Non- Critical Sensitive (Secret), applicant must possess or be eligible for a Secret Clearance
  • This is an APDP acquisition position requiring Level III Non-Critical Certification in STM (I) Does not requires a 3 year CAP agreement.
  • Applicants for this position must list any and all acquisitions certifications and status as an acquisition CORP member in resume. The selectee will have 24 months to meet APDP certification requirements or a waiver must be obtained prior to firm offer.
  • Must have 52 weeks of experience at the next lower grade (or equivalent) for consideration.
  • This position is coded as a Supervisory position and has supervisory coding as a section chief. Desired Qualifications
    • Experience supervising scientists, engineer, and technicians
    • Experience with safety and regulatory requirements of handling explosives and other hazardous materials
    • Experience maintaining and upgrading laboratory infrastructure
    • Experience researching and developing explosives formulations
