direction of deputy administrator, incumbents of this
classification work under limited supervision performing oversight
for the administration and statewide operation of division programs
and services within the Nebraska Probation System. This position
will perform complex management work in planning, organizing, and
administering division priorities. A primary responsibility will be
to develop programs and policies directing the divisions’ work
through supervisors and integrate the goals and programs with other
divisions. Work is performed independently, and assignments may
vary according to the nature of the work. Major decisions are made
at this level; performs related work as required. Location: Chief
Standing Bear (CSB), 521 S. 14th St, Lincoln, Nebraska 68508
Salary: The Assistant Deputy Probation Administrator ‘s salary
range is $96,673.85 to $117,787.84 . Probationary Period Rate will
be $96,673.85 per year. After probation period is completed, the
Permanent wage will increase at least 2.5%. Pay rate may be
commensurate with education and/or experience within fiscal
constraints, if approved. Job Duties 1. Supervises staff to include
prioritizing, assigning, and scheduling work; conducting
performance evaluations; ensuring staff are trained; ensuring that
employees follow policies and procedures, and maintaining a healthy
and safe working environment; and making hiring, termination, and
disciplinary recommendations. 2. Plans, develops, prioritizes, and
directs implementation of division activities and processes to
ensure that program objectives and justice-involved individual’s
service needs are attained. 3. Ensures compliance with state and
federal laws and provides detailed interpretation of federal
mandates in regulatory situations; ensures mandated compliance
within the division. 4. Maintains all division records and prepares
reports; prepares the division’s budget and assists in all fiscal
matters. 5. Attends administrative meetings and educational
programs relating to the division; participates in meetings and
presents the administrator’s view in particular subject areas. 6.
Provides liaison between division and other governmental units;
participates in public relations and assistance including field
inspections. 7. Supervises and assists research programs in
collecting information relative to divisional needs. 8. Prepares
work proposals, maintains division’s adherence to administrative
directives and policies; participates in interdivisional review to
integrate the goals and programs with other divisions in the
system. The above classification responsibilities represent only
the key areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments
will vary depending on the operational needs of the Judicial
Branch. Requirements / Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: A
bachelor’s degree in social sciences, criminal justice, or a
related field PLUS five years’ experience in probation, social
services, or criminal justice; OR a master’s degree in social
sciences, criminal justice, or a related field PLUS three years’
experience in probation, social service, or criminal justice. Three
years of work experience must be of an administrative and
supervisory nature. All educational credits must be granted from an
accredited institution approved by the U.S. Dept. of Education.
Other: Must be authorized to work in the United States. Knowledge

and investigative techniques Case management Skills Ability to plan
and organize functions and work assignments to meet division

develop and utilize subordinates Interpret and disseminate
information Formulate plans and programs and evaluate their
effectiveness Skill in presenting information to groups and
individuals Interpreting results of surveys and studies relating to
division functions Establish and maintain effective working
relationships with federal, state and local officials, other
division personnel and the public Communication, interpersonal
skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the
general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information
and to receive work direction. Organizing division program
planning, negotiating with diverse clientele including other
divisions in the system, other governmental agencies and the
public. Physical Requirements Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 20
pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force
frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise
move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
