The Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP) is accepting applications for the position of Canteen Operator. Additional $3/hour facility differential for hours worked. DUTIES: • Operates the inmate canteen to include requisition of supplies, maintaining inventory control, processing related paperwork, processing inmate special orders and answering inmate correspondence. • Assigns and directs the work activities of inmate workers. • Serve, supervise and train inmate workers in canteen principles, policies and procedures. • Manage small supply room, receive deliveries. • Order inmate clothing and control inventory. Requirements / Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: At least 18 years of age and have either a high school education OR have experience working in a retail setting. Preferred Qualifications : Experience working in a canteen, retail grocery or similar setting. Experience operating computer and calculator. Bilingual skills in English and Spanish desired and assessed. Other: Must be able to lift 50 pounds without assistance. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program.
