Description:JOB SUMMARYUnder the direct supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, the Senior Accountant is responsible for the management of assigned accounting tasks for the organization. The Senior Accountant supports several essential functions for the organization including fixed assets, operational and cost accounting, month-end closing, and budgeting. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSOperational Accounting:Maintenance of chart of accounts in NetSuiteProcessing journal entries as directed by Chief Financial OfficerMaintenance of fixed asset schedule for the organizationEnsure accurate and timely completion of month-end and year-end closing procedures.Assist in the preparation of financial statements and management reports.Support external audits by providing documentation and reconciliations.Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance accounting processesProvide support to agency administration for all accounting functions executed at the agency levelCost Accounting:Maintain and enhance the cost accounting system to accurately allocate costs and expenses across different programs and departmentsAssist in the development and implementation of cost control measures and performanceBudgeting:Assist with the development of the annual master budget for ApaceSupport the budgeting process by providing financial data and preparing budget-related reports.Compliance:Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and relevant financial regulations. Provide guidance to accounting and administrative staff on accounting compliance and company processes.Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Economics or related field.Applicable work experience may be substituted for degree completionAt least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting and financial reporting.The salary for this position is commensurate with experience and education.Proficiency with using MS Excel for financial reporting and data analysis.DESIRED QUALIFICATIONSMaster's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field Experience with accounting and payroll software including NetSuite and PaylocityKnowledge of governmental (GASB) and non-profit accounting standards.
