Job Description:

We're seeking a detail-oriented professional to provide technical underwriting support through processing endorsement requests and managing tasks related to policy-level dividend plans. This role also supports program or group-type accounts and assists underwriters and agencies with administrative tasks. You'll enter transactions into established systems and apply standardized procedures to process policy changes efficiently and accurately.
Open to candidates who live in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota and Kansas.
Hourly Range: $23.69 to $33.16
We're looking for an Underwriting Support Specialist to provide technical and administrative assistance to our underwriting team. This role involves processing endorsement requests, supporting dividend plans and group accounts, and ensuring accurate policy updates using established systems and procedures. What You Will Be Doing

Evaluates, reviews, calculates and completes endorsement change requests.
Assists in managing projects and assignments for the Underwriting Tech Staff, SBU teams, and Vice President and Director of Underwriting including administrative support.
Assists in completing manual and association retention calculations, processes cancellations and reinstatements, runs reports for specific policyholders.
Communicates with underwriters, creating and delivering varied types of messages and information.
Performs work for the Tech team members accurately and efficiently while adhering to team procedures and company best practices.
Maintains underwriting electronic underwriting files relative to endorsements.
Receive and respond to emails from underwriters and operations staff.
Sets up policy changes through the use of established procedures, and collected information.
Process policy change requests within knowledge levels
Applies team best practices, policies, and procedures.
Provides excellent customer service to all internal and external customers and complies with customer service standards and with assistance, responds timely to complaints or problems.
Adheres to business service-level agreements represented by various teams and maintains appropriate interactions with internal and external customers.
Demonstrates a willingness to learn the various fundamentals of insurance underwriting and finance.
Participates and supports various projects within the underwriting discipline as needed.
Regularly interacts with team members, policyholders, agents, premium auditors, and technical specialists to achieve individual and team goals.

What We'll Love About You
Education and Experience

Two -year degree or equivalent relevant work experience.
Two years of customer service experience working in a business environment or other relative experience; working in an insurance agency, with an insurance carrier or similar experience is highly desirable.
Previous insurance experience preferred.
Attention to detail with high degree of accuracy.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Good math skills with analytical capabilities.
Effective organizational and time management skills to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
Good customer service skills and interpersonal skills.

**The base pay posted is just one component of SFM's total compensation package. The salary range listed represents the full compensation range for this position. Job title and starting pay will be based on the selected candidate's relevant knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience, and education, if applicable as well as internal equity with other employees in the same job classification.**
Physical Requirements
Work takes place in a semi paperless environment within an office/home office setting, using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers, which requires being stationary for extended periods of time. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear, and maintain concentration and focus. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms and work with close vision. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds. Work is performed indoors with little to no exposure to extreme outdoor weather conditions. Travel as needed. Regular attendance is required.
