Job Description:
Description : This is a professional position with a good
work/life balance doing meaningful work for an independent agency
of the State of Nebraska. The Accountability and Disclosure
Commission enforces the State's campaign finance disclosure laws,
its lobbying laws and its governmental ethics laws.As an Auditor
you will review candidate and political committee filings to ensure
compliance with law. Auditors respond to compliance questions from
filers and assist them in the use of the Commission's electronic
filing system. Auditors also provide assistance to members of the
public seeking candidate and campaign finance information
maintained by the Commission.Location: 1225 L Street, Lincoln,
NESchedule: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through FridayExamples of
Work :Review, analyze and audit statements and reports for
compliance with the Nebraska Political Accountability and
Disclosure Act. Conduct inquiries and use investigative
methods.Send letters and emails to resolve matters involving
detection of errors, irregularities and failure to file. Answer
questions from the general public over the phone and via email.
Qualifications / Requirements : REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in
business administration or accounting or the equivalent with at
least 24 semester hours of accounting or auditing.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : Knowledge of audit principles and
accounting methods. Ability to file a report similar to an
individual income tax return.Ability to communicate effectively
with co-workers, filers and members of the public. Understanding of
computerized or electronic filing management and online filing in a
database system.Intermediate proficiency using Excel spreadsheets
and Microsoft Word.
