qualified PCU RN in Omaha, Nebraska, 68130! Pay Information $2,290
per week About The Position Job Title: PCU Registered Nurse
Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Stepdown Unit Duration: 13
weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2
years of experience required License: Required Certifications: BLS,
ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Candidates cannot be full-time, part-time,
or PRN with any facility associated with the organization.
Description: Unit holds a pass/fail exam during orientation. RN's
must achieve a 90% to pass or risk termination. The department
handles a mix of medical and surgical cases, including cardiac and
stroke patients. RNs are required to titrate drips, including but
not limited to heparin, octreotide, and insulin. There is a charge
nurse on each shift, who also takes an assignment. Nurse aides or
patient care techs are present on the unit with a 1:14 ratio.
Specialty equipment includes code carts, LUCAS machines, hoyer
lifts, and sit and stand devices. Tele/monitor techs are available
on this unit, and RNs must be able to read and interpret telemetry.
Shifts follow a six-week scheduling pattern, with shifts from
0630-1900 and 1830-0700. Every other weekend is required. Holidays
rotate with permanent staff. Floating to med/surg and other areas
is required, depending on capabilities. The dress code is navy blue
scrubs. The unit is known for high patient flow with frequent
admissions, transfers, and discharges. Looking for positive team
players willing to collaborate and overcome challenges. Unit
secretary 2-3 days a week and a stocking clerk 3 days a week are
available. Requests for time off must be submitted upfront, with
limits on additional requests. The hospital can cancel up to four
shifts during the assignment. Experience with the charting system
EPIC is preferred. BSN is not required. Trauma level and care
setting are acute. Shift notes indicate a 12-hour night shift
